[StBernard] Looting

My husband and I went to our house on Decomine yesterday and found
someone
in our bedroom with a plastic container of rusted tools. My husband
told
him to get out of our home. When we were finished boarding up our
house, we
looked for a sheriff to report this to. We saw a friend who worked
in the
Corrections Dept who suggested that we dismiss it. Should we have
done
something about this? The intruder was gutting the house next door.

YES, REPORT IT.
We reported looting as well but now am trying to reach them again to give
them the estimated value so the report can be finalized.
In fact, the looter was confronted by hubby and he poked him in the chest
with his finger, causing hubby to get in trouble instead of the looter.
So DO NOT touch them unless it is self defense and do NOT confront them
without a witness.
Anyways, I am all for reporting. The more reports are made, the better
chance to 'nail' them b.......ds....Oh sometimes I wish I would curse......
It hurts so bad to have nothing but muddy junk and then someone steals even
that.
With the paint on houses, open doors and windows, inspectors coming before
the appointment, it seems no one is respecting private property anymore, as
if folks think it is just all open for the walking in and taking.
The more arrests made, the stronger the message that this is NOT acceptable
in our parish. I hope one day I feel safe in St Bernard again.
