I too used a product similar to CRL or Lime Away, it's called The Works, but
the only place I've found it is at a Pigley Wiggley.
Gulf Coast Bank also advised me to use old fashioned regular coke first.
This removes most of the corrosion than I rinse and drain the item.
Then I started soaking it in The Works for about a day then wash and rinse
again. This is the best formular I've found and I've been trying them all.

The Works also works miracles on rusted tools. Instead of pure strength I
add some water and soak for several days and it removes most and sometimes
all of the rust. It's also good to soke costume jewelry that is rusted. Just
wash any items in dawn and rinse good.

I've soaked delicate material items to remove rust in this product also and
got it out and didn't damage the material. (christening gowns, etc.)

I was also informed by coin specialist at Chase if you use Tarnex on silver
coins and don't get all, and I mean all of it off it will turn the coins a
different color. Won't hurt them but you need to process them again. I
learned the hard way.

Will get some of the dollar store product and try that one. Thanks for the
input.

Hope this helps.
