Memphis, San Antonio Join List of Open House Events to be Held on Saturday
30 Communities Now Scheduled to Participate in La. Recovery Planning Day

BATON ROUGE, La.- The Louisiana Recovery Authority announced locations for
open house events Saturday in Austin, Atlanta, Dallas, Memphis and San
Antonio for Louisiana Recovery Planning Day. With these additions, there are
now 30 open house meetings scheduled Jan. 21 to collect public input on
rebuilding areas impacted by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

In a proclamation issued last week declaring Jan. 21 "Louisiana Recovery
Planning Day," Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco urged the public to
participate and to provide input on rebuilding. "This opportunity to
participate in the planning effort is critical to making sure that the final
plans reflect the needs and desires of Louisiana citizens, and lay a good
foundation for the future of the Sate of Louisiana."

Louisiana Recovery Planning Day is an important part of the Long Term
Community Planning (LTCR) effort, which is being coordinated through the
Louisiana Recovery Authority in partner! ship with local, state and federal
agencies. 

"Reaching out to displaced Louisianans for their ideas and visions on
rebuilding their communities is vital to the long-term recovery process, "
says Brad Gair the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency
Management Agency's (FEMA) Long-Term Community Recovery Director. "I realize
that it is hard to think about the future for those still in need of
housing, or a job, or a way home, but generations to come will be thankful
for everyone who took valuable time out from their own personal recovery to
help plan for a new Louisiana."

Out-of-state open house events are scheduled to be held in the following
locations:

An open house event is also scheduled to be held in Houston, TX. This
location is to be determined.

These out-of-state events will be held concurrently with 24 other open
houses that are scheduled throughout Louisiana. Citizens are invited to stop
by throughout the day. No appointments are necessary. All open houses will
be conducted from 10 AM - 4 PM.
