PJD,

Sorry about not calling- please call again as I am just about caught up with
calls and don't have anyone with your initials in my stack.

We will attempt to bring the parties together again, but they have been less
than open so far.

I have suggested showing a copy of the checks before and after the
settlement is processed. Write on the checks that the check was endorsed by
demand of the mortgage company.

It is frustrating for all of us, but don't lose hope.

Craig

I am having the same issue with the SBA. They told me over the phone
that the wording in my promissory note was sufficient (the part about
in case of a total loss, taking or destruction of the property or
decrease in value, the total amount would be due) then when I mailed
the paperwork they reviewed it and said it was NOT sufficient and I
would have to get the letter from countrywide. Countrywide is
refusing to give me a letter. SBA is not playing fair here. They,
more than the insurance companies and mortgage companies, should know
how devastating the storm was in our parish. For some of us who lived
in the oil spill area it was a double hit. Maybe if I didn't have the
fear of long term contamination from the crude oil I may have
considered rebuilding. But that was the nail in the coffin. I will
always love St. Bernard parish and it's people and it will always be
home in my heart. It is truly unfair that the SBA is refusing to loan
us the money used to pay off the old mortgage. After all, if I am
ever able to sell the contaminated land I will be required to pay
whatever amount I receive towards my SBA loan.
St. Bernard Parish, the EPA, the CDC and Murphy need to be upfront so
that those of us who don't want to return to the toxic waste site can
move on.
I called Craig's number on Wednesday and left a message for him to
call me. I know he is busy and I will try to be patient.
If anyone on here has had any luck with a similar situation please let us
know.
Thanks,
PJD
