Governor opens legislature in New Orleans, first time in 125 years

BATON ROUGE, LA--Tomorrow night will mark the first time in 125 years since
the Louisiana Legislature has convened outside of the capital city of Baton
Rouge when Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco takes the stage at the Ernest
N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans to address the House and Senate.

In her opening speech, Governor Blanco will focus heavily on hurricane
recovery and reform, specifically citing legislation to consolidate
southeast Louisiana levee boards and streamline New Orleans government for
better efficiency. Another focal point in Governor Blanco's speech will be
housing and the need to help 200,000 households along Louisiana's coast get
back into their homes.

Governor Blanco's speech is open to the public.

The 12-day special session begins tomorrow and ends February 17, 2006.
