St. Bernard Baptists Launch Simultaneous Church Worship Services

Southern Baptist churches from St. Bernard parish, damaged or destroyed by
hurricane Katrina, are launching a series of simultaneous weekly worship
services beginning on Sunday, February 12, 2006.

Poydras Baptist Church, Rev. John Galey, pastor, will meet in the Fellowship
Hall of their church at 10:30 a.m. The Fellowship Hall of the Poydras
church is being renovated through the cooperative efforts of Baptists from
Louisiana, Missouri and other regions.

St. Bernard Baptist Church, Dr. Paul Gregoire, pastor, along with First
Baptist Church, Chalmette, Dr. John Dee Jeffries, pastor, First Baptist
Church, Arabi, Rev. David Howard, pastor, and Hopeview Baptist Church, Rev.
Jeffrey Friend, pastor, will meet for joint worship in the cafeteria of
Chalmette High School at 10:30 a.m. Each of these churches suffered either
total or significant damage.

Delacroix Baptist Church, Rev. James Melerine, pastor, will continue to meet
in a building at 1200 Bayou Road, across from Beauregard Middle School, at
11:00 a.m. Pastor Melerine and his congregation are the only Southern
Baptist congregation that has been meeting in the hurricane aftermath.

Baptist pastors from St. Bernard have been and are presently engaged in
strategic planning concerning the future direction of their churches and the
role each will play in rebuilding the spiritual infrastructure of the
parish.

Everyone, irregardless of their religious affiliation, is invited and
encouraged to attend.
