Governor's statement on the management of U.S. seaports 

"I share the security concerns expressed by citizens, Congressional leaders
and my fellow governors regarding the decision to permit a United Arab
Emirates-owned company to take over some shipping operations at six major
U.S. seaports. 

"The Port of New Orleans is a strategic and critical national asset, and all
decisions regarding its management, operation and security should be handled
with the utmost care and scrutiny. The people of our nation must be assured
that nothing compromises the safety and security of our ports. 

"We in Louisiana take the management and safety of our ports seriously and
we expect the same from Washington."
