Homeowners in Murphy spill area in St. Bernard can apply for FEMA trailers

Owners of homes in the Murphy oil spill lawsuit area can now apply for FEMA
travel trailers to be placed on their property, St. Bernard Parish officials
said.

Lawyers for plaintiffs in the Murphy class-action lawsuit pending in federal
court in New Orleans confirmed to the court and to St. Bernard Parish
government that they have no objection to owners of homes in the
class-action affected area applying to FEMA for trailers, parish officials
said in a news release posted to the parish government's website Wednesday.

A map of the area fixed by the court to be the class-action area, dated Jan.
30, 2006, can be viewed at www.laed.uscourts.gov. Click onto the Murphy Oil
Class Action Litigation area of the page.

The procedure to apply for a trailer follows:

- If you live in the spill class-action area and want a FEMA trailer, go to
the Disaster Recovery Center located in the parking lot of the Super
Wal-Mart Store at 8101 West Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette.

- If you are eligible for a trailer you will be provided a right-of-entry
form for your signature.

- The form will allow the appropriate representatives to meet with you and
inspect your property to determine if it is safe for the placement of a
trailer.
