Parish Council Meeting Postponed Until Friday, and More

Parish Council meeting postponed until Friday, April 7 at 11 a.m.; 10th
Annual Art in April Festival slated Saturday, April 29 from 11 a.m. to 5
p.m. in football field end zone at Unified School


The St. Bernard Parish Council's regular monthly meeting has been postponed
from Tuesday, April 4, to Friday, April 7, at 11 a.m. because Parish
President Henry "Junior'' Rodriguez and Council members Joseph DiFatta Jr.,
Ricky Melerine and Craig Taffaro Jr. will be in Washington, D.C., through
Wednesday as part of a group from the New Orleans area who went there to
discuss the hurricane recovery effort and oil revenues with congressional
leaders.

Parish presidents from St. Tammany Parish, Plaquemines, and St. Charles
parishes are expected to take part in the trip, as well as officials from
Orleans and Jefferson parishes.

Among those being visited are U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. head of the House
Committee on Homeland Security

The 10th Annual Art in April Festival, featuring items from the Art Guild on
display and for sale, as well as crafts, food, live music and a children's
area, will be held Saturday, April 29 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the
football field end zone at St. Bernard Unified School on Palmisano Boulevard
in Chalmette. Admission to the public is free.

Two $1,000 college scholarships will be given to art students who are
seniors at the Unified School.

Several artists will display and sell artwork. Besides food, crafts and
music, there will be a children's area featuring face-painting, magic shows,
clowns, storytelling and a tutterfly release.
