[StBernard] Advertising

I have had several people over the past months ask me about advertising in
these emails. Although I have never said no to any ads, I have taken the
approach that I would allow every business at least one email to say they
were open with contact information.

As is customary in email etiquette, especially in group discussions such as
this, if someone, in responding to a particular email, also offered their
services, it was allowed. Especially if that person responded to other
messages that were not related to their business. In other words, they
contributed to the discussion, didn't just sit around waiting for an
opportunity to put out a for sale sign.

Because the number of requests has increased, I will start accepting paid
advertising. What I have not decided yet, is the manner in which they will
appear and the cost for them.

For the record, I am currently leaning towards all text ads, no graphics.
Ads will be in their own message, with a subject line to show it is an ad
(give you TiVo users out there a chance to skip past it).

Due to the format of this list, I don't think I can do as others do and have
a Premium ad-free list as well as an ad-supported list. Maintaining one
list is hard enough without having to maintain two.

For those of you who have expressed an interest in advertising on the list,
please reply back to my little survey here. All responses will be private.

1) How often to you think your ad should go out?
A) Once a day
B) Once a week
C) Once a month
D) Twice a day
E) Twice a week
F) Twice a month
G) Every message
2) How much would you pay for your ad to go out
A) Once a day
B) Once a week
C) Once a month
D) Twice a day
E) Twice a week
F) Twice a month
G) Every message
3) Should graphic ads be allowed?
4) Should there be a limit on the size of the ads? If so, what should the
limit be?
5) Should emails be exclusive to one advertiser or should they be shared by
2 or 3 advertisers?

Thanks,
Westley
