Gaby,

This week I spoke with a representative from Countrywide who stated there
are about 1000 foreclosures on St. Bernard homes. I haven't seen it in
writing, though.

Good luck and God Bless,
Craig

Interesting. Even tearing up the slab? That is great.
When talking about 'my family first', please remember these volunteers leave
(or even bring) their families into a disaster zone, spend their annual
vacation, take unpaid leaves, spend their own money, to come down here to
clean our mess, because,,,,,, because ,,,,,, well, you can fill in that
blank. I think they are loved by God and extend that love to others, not vor
monetary compensation. In fact, these trips cost them, time and money.
There are not enough of those wonderful people around to gut all right away,
and maybe not in time for the deadline, but those who do come, deserve our
appreciation and respect.
Hubby wonders many times if St Bernardians would give up their vacation and
money to go up north and dig out people in trouble....................
By the way, our neighbor (with those apparently abandoned houses) were as
great neighbors as any, we have always liked living in our block (maybe
even too much as we want to come back so bad), and wished they would all
return. Now we have uncertainty as to what kind of neighborhood we will be
in.
I am also sure they have whatever reasons or reasonings to not do anything
to the house, as so many others bring up these reasonings. Yet, one must
live up to a responsibility.
With that I wonder this:
What about those houses who were not only physically abandoned but, with all
that mortgage mess, financially are no longer in the'owners' name but now
belong to a bank? Is there such a scenario?
Gaby
