[StBernard] houses

Craig-It would go a long way with homeowners if they knew how the order is
being made regarding gutting and regarding demolition. Is it luck of the
draw? Is it by geographic areas and if so, what's the order? Is it by senior
citizens/disabled first for gutting and houses that are in public right of
ways for demolition? And once we can all understand how the process works,
would it be possible for the parish to post the list for the coming week or
month? Surely, there is someone scheduling or coordinating this and if all
they had time to do was post it on the wall at Comm. Development it is a
start.

Those who want to return and rebuild could benefit if they knew if the
gutting and/or demo was in 6 days, 6 weeks or 6 months, because at some
point they want to start building and get out of the trailers or expensive
apartments and move forward in St. Bernard and it may make financial sense
to hire someone to gut or hire a private demo contractor if it meant getting
in a repaired or rebuilt house several months sooner. Keep in mind FEMA is
threatening to stop the rent payments for many. Paying $700 to $1,200 a
month without FEMA assistance has a way of making the decision more urgent.
