MINUTES OF OPERATIONS BRIEFING
Thursday, May 25, 2006, 8:00 a.m.

Craig Taffaro, Councilman District D presiding.
Present: 28

Emergency Operations: Larry Ingargiola. Status Quo.
Community Development: Michael Hunnicutt. Not present.

Public Works and Water and Sewer: Chris Merkl. Status Quo.
Curry reported: Demolition and debris pick up continues this week. Numbers
are expected to increase; waiting on Entergy and Atmos for the
disconnections to homes. We are also working with Fema to pick up
commercial debris which will probably be done on a case by case basis for
each business.

Recovery: Dave Dysart.
1. Moving along with the base camp. Volunteers have cleaned 1,400 homes.
2. Returned from Washington; met with Vitters, Landrieu and Powell's
office's regarding the appeal. We don't think we will get any assistance
from Fema or the state for the base camp.
3. Vehicle removal program expected to start soon; contracts have been
place. Internal stickers are due this week.

Public Assistance:
Residential: Craig Taffaro.
1. Trailer rally went well but presently experiencing a snag - no trailers
are being brought into the state of Louisiana. Hoping that will be worked
out soon between Fema and Fluor. Mobile homes are being brought in very
slowly.

Business: Charles Ponstein. Not present.

Volunteers: Gidget McDougall.
1. We have an Unmet Needs Committee meeting today and I am going to suggest
that they try and put something together for the children for the summer
that will last longer than a month. We are still working on the CBBG funds.


Private Non-Profit: Judy Hoffmeister Status Quo.
Agriculture/Wildlife and Fisheries: Ricky Melerine. Not present.
Lake Borgne Basin Levee District: Bob Turner. Not present.

Medical: Dr. Bertucci.
We are moving equipment into the 22K we are hoping to start in that building
on Monday.
Our ambulance service is moving more people to the hospital each day we are
still seeing about 90 patients per day.

EMS: Janie Fuller. Status Quo.

Public Safety: Sheriff=s Office. Pete Tufaro
1. We are in the process of preparing an off duty detail to address the new
camp down the road for the volunteers.
2. We are going to a regional swat training today.

Fire Department: Armand Buuck. Status Quo.
CDC and DEQ: Mickey Drury. Status Quo.

EPA: Not present.

Murphy Oil: Karl Zornes
1. 302,000 cubic yards of debris have been cleared.

Parish Government:
Council: Lynn Dean. Not present.
Parks and Recreation: John Metzler, Jr.
1. We already have over 250 children signed up for baseball. We are still
working on getting the fields ready.
Finance: Geremie Loupe. Not present.
Personnel: Kevin Clark. Not present.
Insurance: Mike Wiltz. Not present.
Long Term Recovery: Marvin LeBlanc. Not present.

General Information:
No meeting on Monday May 29, 2006 Memorial Day (Holiday).
Next meeting scheduled for Thursday June 1, 2006, 8:00 a.m., in CAO=s
conference room on the second floor of the Government Complex.
