Jim,
 
I swam to the North Shore with lots of other former "St. Bernardians".
Couldn't take the insanity any more, and besides, who wants to live in an
oil-logged home? I figured that the Parish would stand by its word for once,
and that my home would be gutted for free at least, but we can't even trust
them to do that for us. Oh well, guess I will get back to dealing with all
of the other problems at hand, like trying to figure out how to take on a
new house note, now that the SBA and the government doesn't want to help
anyone with insurance. Thank God my friends didn't do what they were
supposed to- at least they can get a 2% loan from the SBA. We don't qualify
(even after we were assured that we would), and will be paying 6% on a house
that is way out of price range for us. The home price was inflated after the
storm, and we were waiting for the SBA loan to go through, so we just
figured that we would buy when we could. Go figure- the government didn't
help the middle class AGAIN!
