The Louisiana Department of Revenue, following the lead of the federal
government, announced Wednesday that it will give taxpayers additional time
to get their 2005 state income tax returns together. 

On Monday, the Internal Revenue Service announced that federal returns,
previously due on Aug. 28, will now be due Oct. 16. The state said Wednesday
that its returns will be subject to an Oct. 16 deadline as well.
