Individual Income Tax

Additional Interest Waiver and Filing Extension for Individual Income Tax
Returns
Following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita

Internal Revenue Service Notice 2006-56 has postponed the filing and payment
deadlines for
individual taxpayers most severely impacted by Hurricane Katrina for returns
or payments with a due date or extended due date on or after August 29,
2005, and on or before August 28, 2006, to October 16, 2006. If an
individual taxpayer qualifies for the federal filing extension granted in
IRS Notice 2006-56, Louisiana will also extend the same individual income
filing and payment deadlines to October 16, 2006. No interest or penalties
will be incurred due to the extension of these filings and payments. This
extension applies only to individual income taxes for the requisite periods
and does not apply to business taxes.
