[StBernard] Romero to take on Melancon

Jim,

What I can tell you about Romero is that he is a former Parish President for
Iberia Parish.  Was the first to start using Christmas trees to help coastal
erosion.  Has been in politics for a long time.

He ran against Melancon in the last election.  Lost in the primary to Billy
Tauzin III, who lost because he is a hard headed idiot who thought his
Daddy's name would make him a shoo-in.

Melancon has done well for St. Bernard.

Romero had the backing of Walter Boasso last time around.

Right now, too early to say much about which way to lean.

Although I think party affiliations matter in Federal races, I think it is
only a small piece of the puzzle, so just ignore who is the Democrat and who
is the Republican for now.  Use that to tip the scale if you end up with a
balance board when comparing the two later on.

New Iberia Senator Craig Romero, a Republican, will take on Democrat
Melancon,  who  is  in the middle  of  his  first  term  in  office.  
 
Bernie Pinsonat  says  the  Third  District  House seat is crucial. He says,
"There's talk of Republicans losing Congress if they can take this seat away
from the Democrats.  It would almost take two wins from the Democrats to
makeup for this loss."
 
Pinsonat says the GOP wants it bad, and the Democrats want to hang on to a
district that probably leans Republican.  He says, "You'll see a lot of
money, you'll see a lot of negative ads, you'll see a lot of third party
organizations in here running ads."


 
Pinsonat says at this stage of the game, there's no clear favorite

Okay political watchers...don't know a thing about Romero, however Melancon
has been helpful to us in a couple of things.   Opinions please...
