Singers Tim McGraw and wife Faith Hill pass through Chalmette on Wednesday
on way to perform in New Orleans; Youth Fun Day at OLPS on Sat., July 8

Music superstars Tim McGraw, a Monroe area native, and wife, Faith Hill of
Mississippi, passed through Chalmette on Wednesday en route to a performance
in New Orleans that night.

McGraw and Hill have both been involved in projects to raise donations for
hurricane relief efforts in St. Bernard and other parishes. McGraw visited
Chalmette last November, predicting Louisiana and Mississippi will bounce
back.

McGraw, 38, has won two Grammy Awards, including one last year for Country
Album of the Year. He also won the 2004 People's Choice Award for Favorite
Male Music Performer and has sold more than 33 million albums. McGraw was
part of the Hurricane Katrina relief concert nationally televised in
September.

On Wednesday, St. Bernard Parish Fire Chief Thomas Stone had a chance to
speak with McGraw and said afterward, "I thanked him for still bringing
attention to this area,'' Stone. "By coming to this region they show people
the disaster isn't over.''
