[StBernard] blighted notices

Jer-
My sentiments exactly...
I was also wondering if it would be possible for homeowners who are not in
Da Parish, the metro area and/or the state to somehow alert the parish
government of their intentions with their homes online or by fax (perhaps
with notarized, original copy to follow by mail)? I am a bit, er, ticked
that (most) of the people who are making the decisions about the rest of our
lives can afford to take care of all of the things they are demanding of
people who are less fortunate. While I do understand the need to take timely
action with your home, some people simply cannot afford to pay to fly down,
rent a car, buy necessary equipment/clothing to enter their homes for the
salvaging of *something*, pay for a hotel and food, etc. since most people
not only lost their homes, but their livelihoods. How are people supposed to
take time off from jobs they just got (therefore, forefeiting any pay they
would have earned by going to work on those days they have to be in Da
Parish) in order to go down to take care of some (if not all--yeah, right)
of these things? Is there any recourse for homeowners who are spread far and
wide and who will not see the blighted list and will not get the notice in
the mail (I have yet to receive my tax notice)?
Just some questions off of the top of my head...
Thanks for any insight.
-Donna
