Information on modular home concepts provided by manufacturers as well as
other home rebuilding ideas will be available at the St. Bernard Home Expo
being held Saturday, July 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the brown and white
tent behind the government building in Chalmette.

About a dozen vendors will be there to show off mostly modular home
concepts, although information will be available on other type homes as
well, There will also be contact information available for local contracting
services and businesses.
Parish Council member Mark Madary, who put together the Expo, said it is
important to the parish that residents having their storm-damaged homes
demolished receive information on ways to quickly rebuild new homes or they
will be tempted to live elsewhere.

There will be information available on several types of homes that can be
built relatively quickly, Madary said.

Council member Judy Hoffmeister said the Expo "will give people different
options'' available to them for rebuilding. Here will also be information on
wood-frame homes as well as modular types, she said. "This will be an
ongoing Expo'' that will be held again in the future, she said.

Some 2,000 linen sets donated by the government of Saudi Arabia will be
given away to St. Bernard Parish residents from 4-9 p.m. in Chalmette on
Thursday, July 27, in the parking lot outside the former Blockbuster Video
store in the 8400 block of West Judge Perez Drive.

A driver's license or a state I.D. card showing a St. Bernard Parish address
is necessary to receive the items and the person must be present to receive
it. I.D. cards can't be given to others to pick up a set, officials said.

The National Relief Network is distributing the items for the Saudi
government, which previously gave away sets of cooking utensils in Chalmette
last April.
