The LRA Progress Report - August 4, 2006

Creating a Personal Evacuation Plan

The Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness continues to monitor Tropical Storm Chris. While its ultimate path is difficult to predict, Louisiana residents should always be prepared for an emergency situation. Stay Healthy Louisiana offers six basic steps to develop a Family Readiness Plan.

Click here <http://www.stayhealthyla.org/creating> for more information. Families should also create their own evacuation plan, should they need to leave their homes. Click here for more information on evacuation plans and contra flow maps. <http://www.dotd.louisiana.gov/maps/>

Louisiana Speaks Hosts Stakeholder Workshop in Houma Thibodaux Area

The Louisiana Recovery Authority's long-range planning initiative, Louisiana Speaks, is hosting the fifth in a series of eight stakeholder workshops at Cypress Columns in Gray, LA today. Renowned planning teams will work with key civic leaders across South Louisiana to brainstorm possible scenarios for rebuilding the hurricane-affected region. Participants will be asked to offer ideas related to a regional infrastructure investment plan and a regional economic strategy that get Louisiana's cities working together for the benefit of all. Click here <http://louisianaspeaks.org/> to learn more about the long-term community planning initiative.

LRA Urges Homeowners to Register for Road Home Housing Registry

While more than 97,000 homeowners already have registered for the Road Home housing registry, it is estimated that more than 20,000 eligible homeowners have not yet submitted their information. Recent figures show several parishes have experienced a low turnout of eligible homeowners. Less than half of all eligible homeowners have registered with The Road Home in St. Tammany, Calcasieu and Terrebonne. If you think you may be eligible for assistance from the program, please register here <http://www.louisianarebuilds.info> .
