Reports: state will provide 20 buses to help evacuate St. Bernard Parish

During a planning session Monday to go over St. Bernard Parish's hurricane
preparation, it was announced that the state will provide up to 20 buses to
help evacuate parish residents should a hurricane threaten.

Two sites for the buses have been chosen, a parish news release said.
Residents would be advised they could go to the Super Wal-Mart parking lot
in Chalmette or the K-Mart parking lot in Meraux to board buses for
evacuation.

The buses will be loaned by the state Department of Transportation and
Development, the news release said.

Residents living in FEMA trailers would be told to evacuate the parish if
winds approach tropical storm strength, which are 39 mph to 74 mph
