Nancy,
 
the permit remains in effect for the property but the permit is only good
for six months and then an extension must be filed.  The owner will have to
file an affidavit if another electrician is hired.

if you get an electrical permit now, does this stay with the home if a new
owner buys the property.  in other words, would the new owner be
'grandfathered' in  and not have to raise the property 3 feet if we have an
electrical permit prior to the deadline??
