jp,

if you are demolishing the house then the gutting is not going to be done by
anyone through the parish volunteer program- there is no gutting
requirement for homes that are set for demolition. If you signed up for
demolition with the christian contractors, that is not the same as signing
up with the parish. To sign up with the parish you will need to sign an ROE
with public works at 278-4317. You should probably sign up for this
immediately.

Good luck and God Bless,
Craig

We live in the 3700 block of Charles Drive. We have been on the parish
"gutting list" since October, waiting with all intentions of demolition the
house. We spend a whole day getting on the Christian Contractors demolition
list, waiting and hoping that would be a speeding process. That has no
proven uneventful. I contacted the Public Works office and they said that
the oil spill area homes will be able to get on the parish demolition list
in the next few weeks, which may or may not be before Aug. 29th. So we hope
to get on that list as soon as it is possible. Our question is, are we still
responsible to have the house cleaned and maintained by the Aug. 29th
deadline? Is there an extension for the oil spill area? We surely don't
want to spend the money to pay to gut it and clean the house or take a week
or two off of work and work tirelessly to clean the house if it will be
demolished a few weeks later. If we are still responsible for the Aug. 29th
deadline, how can we be held responsible for a deadline that the parish
can't even meet. I've spent the whole day making telephone calls to various
parish departments and no one can answer my questions and just continually
sent me to someone else. I've also left a message for my councilman, Kenny
Henderson.
