CHALMETTE, La. (AP) _ If you hear Jimmy Bartholomae (bahr-THAH'-lah-may)
gripe about trailers, cut him a break.

The veteran sheriff's deputy works in one all day. Then he goes home to
another trailer he shares with his wife and their five kids.

Bartholomae is in Chalmette, Louisiana, southeast of New Orleans. It was
once home to 70-thousand people, but barely one-third have come back since
Hurricane Katrina. Only a handful of businesses have reopened.

And since there are still places without streetlights, Bartholomae warns
that if you're out at night, he's going to check and see what you're up to.

He says help is still needed in many ways. Along with rebuilding,
Bartholomae says he finds himself answering way more domestic violence calls
after Katrina.

As for his home, which was once appraised at 165-thousand dollars, it's up
for sale. Best offer so far -- just five grand.
