Homes in Murphy oil spill area can be demolished

St. Bernard Parish residents who are claimants in the Murphy oil spill
class-action lawsuit and are being represented by attorneys can now register
to have their homes demolished for free by St. Bernard Parish government, a
news release on the parish's website says.

The news release says homeowners must sign a new right of entry agreement
and also obtain a letter of no objection from their attorney of record.

According to the news release, claimants can pick up a copy of the right to
entry agreement, completion instructions and sample letter to be given to
the lawyer in the parish's Public Works Department on the second-floor of
the government complex at 8201 West Judge Perez Drive or can be downloaded
by computer from the parish website at www.sbpg.net.

FEMA has approved the demolition and removal of homes in the Murphy oil
spill area and the new right of entry agreement. The Murphy class-action
lawsuit is pending in federal court in New Orleans, the news release says.
