Linda,

I talked to Alan Nazzaro with American Renaissance Homes about your question. He says they have experienced some hiccups with people buying home owners insurance for their new modular homes, but most of that was due to the insurance agent or broker misclassifying the structure.

A modular home is no different than a traditional stick built home other than 90% of the work is done at a factory instead of onsite.

If you have any further questions, give Alan a call at 279-7044, or stop by their office. They are right next door to the original Popeye's #1 in Arabi (W. Judge Perez Drive and Rowley).

Anything new going on in St Bernard about the modular homes. I am concern for all the people who have purchased them and may not have been faced with the cost of homeowners insurance yet.

I would love to have one in St Bernard but I guess I will need to consider doing something else. I would either need to build a home from ground up or buy something in another parish, like Jefferson, but would really rather be back in St Bernard.

I have an appointment with the Road to Recovery at the end of this month and need to decide what I am going to do.

Thanks for listening.
