Boasso group to start media blitz

State Sen. Walter Boasso, R-Arabi, announced Monday that he is financing a new organization and Web site called Get It Done Louisiana that will begin a radio advertising campaign today. 

Boasso said he is considering a run for the governor's office next year but that the organization was created to "get people involved" in issues, which he did not specify. The ads describe Boasso as a state leader and reformer. 

The organization is not registered with the state Board of Ethics, which regulates political campaign organizations. It was formed under the Internal Revenue Code as a nonprofit 501(c)4 devoted to educational purposes. 

Contributions to that type of nonprofit group are not tax-deductible but can be deducted as a business expense in some limited cases.
