Governor Blanco acts on Special Session legislation


BATON ROUGE - Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco has signed the following bills from the 2006 December Special Session into law:

HB 52 - Establishes the Economic and Port Development Infrastructure Fund in the state treasure. 
HB 57 - Creates and establishes the Louisiana Interoperability Communications Fund. 
HB 77 - Provides with respect to financing single premium insurance in connection with residential mortgage loans. 
HB 120 - Authorizes a state tax credit to "offset" assessments levied by Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation.


Gov. Blanco has vetoed the following bill:

HB 84 - Removes limitation on appropriation from State Emergency Response Fund

HB 120 provides for a refundable income tax credit for the amount of the LA Citizens assessment charged to home and business owners. Therefore, the payment which would have been provided under HB 84 for reimbursement to policyholders for assessments is no longer necessary.
