Thanks Gaby for your kind words.  Yes, I'm awfully proud of Sam.  She has
such a gift that I'm not sure she would have recognizd if it weren't for
Katrina.  And because of her writing, she has been blessed many times over.
Thanks for making me feel like I wasn't the only drill sargeant mom who
'made her kid leave her stuff'!   Hindsight being what it is, I'd give
anything to be able to go back, but I can't.  I just keep thinking that
because of Sam's leaving things, she was still blessed.  Not sure she sees
it that way all of the time.  
 
Sam has really made a lot of good things from the horror of Katrina.  She
said once that she learned, "What doesn't kill you will only make you
stronger".  It was so hard hearing my 17 year old speak such words that
should have come from a much older person. But she has taken things in
stride and moved forward and is my shining star!
