Owners of buildings in the Village Square apartments area of Chalmette can
discuss/ sign agreements to sell their property to a group interested in
redeveloping the area at a meeting in the Parish Council office from 9 a.m.
to noon on Saturday, Jan. 13.

CBO financial, Inc., headed by Craig Stanley of Columbia, Md., has offered
to buy properties in Village Square at a rate of $15 a square foot and then
redevelop the area.

Stanley said redevelopment would focus initially on social services projects
and possibly expand into residential units including multi-family and
single-family residences, at a much lower population density than the area
had before Hurricane Katrina.

The Village Square area, a densely populated area of apartment buildings
behind the Chalmette Centre Shopping Center on West Judge Perez Drive,
consists of about 34 acres and had 100 of apartment units.

Stanley said there are about 123 structures and about 60 owners of
buildings, more than half of whom have already agreed to sell their
properties.
Streets involved would include Palm, Plantation, Oak Tree, Southern and one
side of De La Ronde.

Suzanne Christoffersen of Specialized Real Estate Services of Metairie, who
owns several properties in the Village Square apartments area, will be at
the Parish Council office to meet with property owners on Jan. 13.
She said owners, if possible, should bring with them copies of legal
descriptions of the property involved.
