RE: DINNER THEATRE AT DESTREHAN PLANTATION'S MULE BARN

The River Road Historical Society announces its first Dinner Theatre
production to be held on Wednesday, January 24 in the Destrehan Plantation
Mule Barn. The show is performed by the seven members of the Evacuation
Theater Troupe, each who has been greatly affected by Hurricane Katrina. The
diverse group has worked together on numerous educational and theatrical
projects, but Voices marks their first tour. It takes a historical and
hysterical look at the history, humor, and hardships of Louisiana. It
educates and entertains.

The show is divided into three sections. The first is a comedic romp through
the pages of our history, to The Louisiana Purchase. Next, a look at some of
the famous people with Louisiana roots and their contributions - including
bits with Ellen Degeneres, Stanley Kawolsi, Truman Capote, Huey Long,
Richard Simmons, Brittney Spears, Anne Rice, and Emeril Lagasse.

Through monologues and vignettes, the show then takes a serious look at the
recent hardships of New Orleans, putting faces to the tragedy. We end the
show in an upbeat fashion, thanking the kindness of strangers for their help
and highlighting the resiliency of the people from the Gulf Coast.

Written by New Orleans playwright, Barry Lemoine, the production includes
original stories from hurricane survivors, putting faces to the tragedy. The
production will also highlight the importance of Louisiana in American
History, emphasizing The Louisiana Purchase, and the significance of
acquiring New Orleans.

Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and will consist of Plantation Garden Salad,
Sliced Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes, Vegetables, Bread and Dessert. The play
follows, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $20 for adults and
teens and $10 for children 12 and under. Reservations and advance payment is
required. To order tickets call the Destrehan Plantation business office at
985-764-9315 or visit the Plantation Gift Shop at 13034 River Road in
Destrehan.
