New east bank levee board schedules 3rd meeting in Chalmette

The new east bank regional levee board will meet Friday at 9:30 a.m. in
Chalmette for its third session since members were sworn into office Jan.
10.

The meeting includes a 1 p.m. presentation by Col. Jeffrey Bedey, chief of
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' hurricane protection office. He plans to
brief the 10-member board of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection
Authority-East on the status of hurricane defense system repairs and
improvements and to answer questions from the commissioners.

The meeting will be held at 520 E. St. Bernard Hwy, which is the Contractor
Orientation Building, or old union hall, at Chalmette Refining Co. Visitors
are asked to use the Gate 45 entrance.

The session is open to the public and will conclude with an opportunity for
residents to address the levee board. Comments are restricted to two minutes
per speaker.
