Editors note: I didn't notice it in the earlier post, but it was sent by
DDK. Not sure who the original poster on NOLA.com was.

Here's my two cents. If the NOLA.com post is true then I would stay away
from the Andry/Torres suite, especially if it is based on admiralty law.
That is a very specialized area of law and if the firm pursuing the case
does not specialize in it, which Torres does not, I would not trust them.

---------------------------------
This has further confused me! Who are you? You did not sign your posting
and I am wondering if this is your personal opinion? Or do you actually
know something that will assist us. I had been confused as to if there was
two separate class actions going on--MRGO claim or levee claim??? Who do we
file with? Torres etal or the other guys? And is time really running out?
HELP!

On nola's forum this was posted regarding the class action lawsuits

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT file these forms on your own and DO get legal
representation. If you file on your own YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. I WOULD NOT use
the ones on WWL's website. Call JONATHAN Andry's firm and they will send you
out a packet. Each ADULT is entitled to his/her own claim. Please advise if
you own or rent.

First and foremost there are two different "Andry" law firms involved in
these claims and are using two different approaches to the claims. The Andry
firm with Jonathan Andry is the ORIGINAL MRGO attorneys and they are taking
a different approach to the claims and are involved/affiliated with the 5
original lawsuits that have been filed. If you contact them at 586-8899, 610
Baronne, the SF-95 will be completed for you by them and there is different
language on these forms and you have until August to get them filed
(although you don't want to wait til the last minute).

The "other" Andry firm is Jerald N. Andry, JR. a/k/a "Jay" Andry who is
affiliated with the Torres firm. These are the forms that must be filed next
week. They are filing under an "admiralty" premise and thus only have 18
months from the date of the storm to file. I personally believe they do not
know what they are doing because they are filing under the same premise that
has always excluded the Corps from prosecution for negligence and I think
they will still lose. Secondly, their incompetence is what caused this mass
confusion to begin with. I received my forms on February 16 from this firm
and they said on my cover letter it needed to be filed by August, then they
are saying "the deadline was moved up" well it was never moved up, an
admiralty claim is and always has been 18 months from the date of the event.
I am going with the original Andry firm of Jonathan Andry, 610 Baronne,
586-8899 who is only asking for 25% (not 33 1/3 or 40 or 45%) and you will
have representation in any ensuing litigation whereas if you file by
yourself you are screwed. You will FURTHER be screwed if you file with the
others under the Admiralty claim next week and FAIL as then you cannot file
under the other, which is being filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act
(FTCA) which has a much better chance of being successful. I personally
believe this tactic worked by panicking the people and it caused people to
run out and get these pre-printed SF-95 forms which, depending on which ones
you get, has information on them which IS STILL INACCURATE as it has
language these attorneys have added to them.

So if this nola forum person is right, there are two different MRGO
lawsuits, one going under torts and another going under admiralty law and
they have two different deadlines.

So which one is St. Bernard Parish Govt going under?
