You are absolutely right Deborah. Unless you purchased the items yourself,
more than likely you will not have any reportable sales tax for your tax
return. However, there is the energy credit availability this year for
purchases of insulation, doors, windows, heating and air conditioning
systems that maintain certain EER (energy efficiency ratings) levels.
Maximum credit is $500. That is equivalent to a $3,333 sales tax deduction
at 15%. So don't fret too much. I am sure you put those types of energy
efficient items in your house since you had a chance to start from scratch.
And who can afford high utility bills anymore.
