They allegedly stole air conditioners

By Karen Turni Bazile

Three people have been arrested for stealing air conditioning units from
possibly abandoned, flood-damaged St. Bernard Parish homes to sell as scrap,
the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office said.

Police booked Vance K. Wilson, 22, 3301 Lena Drive, Chalmette; Milton S.
Guarino III, 23, 3204 Gallo Drive, Chalmette; and Angela Roberts, 21, 3204
Gallo Drive, Chalmette, with 33 counts of felony theft Tuesday.

Two detectives stopped a white pickup truck in the 3300 block of Paris Road
in Chalmette on Tuesday that fit the description of a vehicle reported to
have just fled from the 3000 block of Delambert Drive, where the passengers
were allegedly seen attempting to steal an air conditioning unit.

Wilson was driving the car, police said; Roberts and Guarino were the
passengers.

During their investigation, deputies learned the three suspects had removed
air conditioning units from 33 other residences in St. Bernard Parish, with
Roberts selling them at a scrap yard in the 5000 block of Paris Road. Two
suspects agreed to take the detectives to the properties where they removed
the units.

Bond information was not available Wednesday.
