Information was sent out to the COE's database today from Chris Gilmore with
the Army Corps of Engineers:
The Corps of Engineers is hosting a stakeholder meeting next week to
provide an update on the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet Deep Draft
De-authorization study.
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 16, 2007, beginning at 9:00
a.m. in the New Orleans District Assembly Room, side A. During the
meeting stakeholder groups will be able to provide feedback on the
Interim Report to Congress. We will provide details on a schedule for
completing the final report and describe opportunities for further
stakeholder involvement in the study.
Copies of the Interim Report to Congress are available on the internet
at http://lacpr.usace.army.mil/ - look for the MRGO tab on the left
index menu on the LACPR page.
Also, later this week we anticipate the publication of a Notice of
Intent to prepare a Legislative Environmental Impact Statement for the
study. The notice will appear in the Federal Register and we will
provide copies to meeting participants.
I apologize for the short notice announcing this meeting - if
necessary
we can set up a telephone conference line for participants that may
have
travel or other conflicts. In addition, we will announce a schedule
for
additional stakeholder forums at the meeting. We look forward to
seeing
everyone next week.
