THE ROAD HOME PROGRAM LAUNCHES MORE USER-FRIENDLY WEB SITE

BATON ROUGE, La., April 30, 2007 - The Road Home program's newly designed Web site (www.road2la.org) features significant improvements to make information easier to access, program officials announced today.

"We are making every effort to ensure that information is readily accessible for applicants," said Michael Taylor, director of the Disaster Recovery Unit, Office of Community Development. "In addition to the Housing Assistance Centers and the call centers, the internet provides an invaluable tool for communicating the Louisiana residents displaced by Hurricane Katrina or Rita who may need more information about the program."

In addition to the look of the site, significant changes will make the site more user-friendly including:

• Color-coded sections for homeowners, small-scale rental property owners, and building professionals to more easily access the information they are seeking;

• Reorganized content to help visitors find the information they need as quickly as possible;

• Improved navigational tools along the top of the page to show visitors where they are in the site.

The Road Home program is designed to provide compensation to Louisiana homeowners affected by Hurricane Katrina or Rita for the damage to their homes. This groundbreaking program represents the largest single housing recovery program in U.S. history. Working together, Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco, the Louisiana Recovery Authority and the Office of Community Development created The Road Home program with the approval of the Louisiana Legislature. The program affords eligible homeowners up to $150,000 in compensation for their losses to get back into their homes.
