ROAD HOME HITS $1 BILLION MARK IN PAYOUTS TO HOMEOWNERS

BATON ROUGE, La., May 22, 2007 - Disaster Recovery Unit officials said today that homeowners seeking to return to their homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina or Rita have now received more that $1 billion in Road Home assistance.

According to Michael Taylor, Director of the Disaster Recovery Unit (DRU) "This is an exciting benchmark indicating the growing success of The Road Home program." DRU is a part of the Office of Community Development (OCD) which is the managing agency for The Road Home program. "The billion dollar mark is a major milestone in our effort to return all Road Home program participants back into livable housing," Taylor concluded.

Homeowners who have not yet applied to the program can submit their application to the program by visiting www.road2LA.org or by calling 1.888.ROAD.2.LA (1.888.762.3252 or TTY: 1.800.566.4224).
