Housing and Community Opportunity Subcommittee to Hold Hearing on Flood
Insurance Reform 

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chair of the
Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity, today announced that the
subcommittee will hold a hearing entitled "The Flood Insurance Reform and
Modernization Act of 2007, H.R. 1682."  Flood insurance is critical to the
health of the U.S. economy, homeowners and many communities across the
country that depend on it.  Reforming the NFIP is vital to strengthening the
program and ensuring its viability, especially in the event of a major
flooding event.
