New in Childcare/Youth Activities


Free Tennis Instruction
The New Orleans Youth Tennis (NOYT) organization is offering free tennis
instruction for New Orleans youths from age 6 - 16, on Saturdays beginning
June 30 until the last Saturday in August. Classes will be held from 8:00 am
to 11:00 am in New Orleans City Park. Rackets and tennis balls will be
provided. After completion of initial basic training, each youth will
receive a 'NOYT Voucher card,' which will allow participants to play on the
City Park courts free of charge. Interested youths are asked to report
promptly this Saturday, June 30, at 7:45 am. For more information call Max

New In Neighborhoods


Nola Bound Videos
These video clips, produced by the Louisiana Family Recovery Corps, are a
visual guide for people who are interested in moving home but need to know
the situation "on the ground." Neighborhood and City-wide conditions have
been filmed and narrated and are available to watch online. Periodically the
Recovery Corps will refresh these videos to update their content. The
current videos were created in June of 2007.

Court Watch NOLA
Court Watch NOLA's mission is to monitor each part of the Justice System to
ensure transparency and accountability at every level. Court Watch
volunteers attend court hearings and trials in all sections of Orleans
Parish Criminal District Court and monitor the progress of cases as they
proceed through the courts from arraignment through sentencing. To
volunteer, visit the website or call 994-2694. Court Watch NOLA is supported
by The New Orleans Crime Fighting Coalition.

Corps of Engineers Flood Risk Maps
These Army Corps of Engineers maps show where flooding can be expected to
occur -- and to what depths -- in different sections of the New Orleans area
during future hurricanes.
