HOWARD:
We have a very serious problem parish wide with storm drainage. Just in our
area 4 of District C (SOUTH AREA from Jacob to Palmansano and St Bernard
Hwy to Judge Perez) ALL the drainage canals need to be cleared - - that's
Jacob Canal that hasnt been touched since the storm, Kien's ditch behind
Corinne Drive, Chalona Canal and then Palmansano. Blanchard and Campagna
storm drains do not drain. From Campagna to Jacob, None of the storms
drains have been sucked out since the Hurricane and the haphazard work of
Murphy's soil scrapping without proper resodding (if any at all) put more
mud into the clog. Public Works has been contacted since 2006. We were
fortunate to have them cleanout the storm drains on Corinne early in the
rebuild time, but nothing since. Anything you can do will help.

I find it difficult to focus on a future for St. Bernard Parish, or even
hear about the beautiful parks, sports facilities, cultural events, etc.,
when I still have to panic every time it rains. Plaza Drive floods every
time we get a hard rain. Most of it crosses my lot, from up the street and
from what used to be a trailer park in the back. I lost items that I had
painstakingly saved from Katrina when my garage got 1ft of water the last
rainstorm. What good is it to go through the motions of a dream for a
future when we can't take care of basic drainage? Or are these privileges
just for some people.
