A Slidell man has been booked in connection with the alleged rape of a woman
in a vacant Chalmette apartment, authorities said.

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office said in a news release Thursday that
it learned of the alleged attack through a telephone call from a "concerned
citizen.'' The caller told investigators where they could find the woman.

The woman, 21, of Chalmette, told deputies she had been standing near her
vehicle in the 2000 block of Chalona Lane around 1:45 p.m. Saturday when a
man puller her into a nearby apartment and raped her. The news release said
that man was Paul Duxworth, 48, of 1300 Constitution Drive, who owns a
nearby apartment complex.

Upon searching the apartment where the rape allegedly took place, detectives
found three gallon-sized bags of marijuana with a street value of $5,000.
The combined weight of the bags was around 3 lbs., the news release said.

Duxworth was arrested Monday night at his home in Slidell with the
assistance of Slidell police officers. He has been booked with forcible rape
and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, the news release said.
