Walter's Story-

A successful and self-made businessman, generous civic leader, pine tree
farmer, cattle

rancher and avid sportsman. Walter Boasso has matched his success with his

commitment to public service. He was recently recognized as the 2006
Legislator of the

Year by the Alliance for Good Government, an honor he also was awarded in
2004 after his first year in office.

A graduate of the University of New Orleans and Chalmette High School,
Boasso has served for over 20 years as CEO and President of Boasso America
Corporation, an international network of tank container facilities that
provides tank cleaning, repair, transfer, and transportation of bulk liquid
materials. Walter began his company with a defined vision, driving passion
and determination, soap and a brush and will to do what others would not
attempt. The company now employs over 500 workers at its facilities located
in Louisiana, South Carolina, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, and Florida. A
lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, Walter was elected to the Louisiana
State Senate in 2003.

Boasso's successes in government service and business have been broadly
recognized and respected via the following awards: C. Alvin Bertel Award,
Iberville Award,

Louisiana's Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Junior Achievement Business Hall
of Fame, Raoul A. "Bud' Colomb Citizen of the Year, Common Cause Award for
Exceptional Service in the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Legislative
Champion Award from GNO Inc., Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Alumnus of the
Year 2006, American Red Cross' Claire Barton Award.

In the Senate, Boasso championed the cause to reform the state inefficient
Levee Board System, by authoring legislation that resulted in strengthen the
organizational structure of the Levee Boards and enhancing accountability
and stewardship in their operations. Boasso has always demonstrated the
value of supporting an efficient government. He introduced legislation that
attempted to prohibit elected officials from receiving campaign
contributions from entities doing business with any state retirement system.
In order to reduce state spending, Boasso also led the effort to overhaul
the state's retirement systems without affecting employee's benefits. A
strong proponent of Louisiana's shipping industry, Walter has been
instrumental in crafting major legislation designed to increase commerce on
our state's waterways, including projects designed to increase opportunities
for our agricultural products. In 2005, his initiative created the
Louisiana Waterways Infrastructure and Departmental Fund and Bank. The sole
purpose of this project is to enhance the efficiency of the transportation
of products, personnel, and cargo within our intrastate, interstate, and
international commerce systems.

Walter's exceptional business experiences, his commitment to community and
public service, and his untiring will to fight for the hard working people
of our state, uniquely qualifies him as the candidate who has a resume that
is far superior to everyone else.
