[StBernard] Council's use of Technology

Craig, I once brought it up to JR about having a cell-phone or laptop. I
won't quote JR, but let it suffice that the mindset exhibited closely
reminded me of the Beverly Hillbillies before Beverly Hills! ;)

Selling the administration on technology was like getting the "dead to
answer my plea". I believe that it's not a luxury to move more with the
times but an ultimate necessity to move or get stepped upon. Technology has
little value to many. It's fabric is so ingrained into people's lives that
not to be more astute and in stride with where we need to be in a
technological sense--that Katrina may not be the only storm that's keeping
St. Bernardians inundated with progress failure.

By the way (or BTW) ..My conversation took place 10 years ago.

Jill,

there are a few council members who are using the computer for some basic
purposes but when I bring up the idea of getting back to the direction of
everything being electronic and forming a paperless system, I suddenly begin
speaking Greek or Geek, depending on who is listening. The whole system
needs to be brought on board but it all starts with a willingness to change
the mindset from getting by is just good enough to stretching to another
level.

God Bless,
Craig
