[StBernard] Nita Hutter Looking to Expropriate Land

An explanation is needed here (at least for me, if you please).

How is the State Expropriating LRA properties? For the most part, those are
the blighted properties.

Why would residents want the state involved in our parish affairs? We would
lose any potential input through public hearings for zoning on redevelopment
properties. We could lose what we have been working so hard to preserve in
our residential neighborhoods.

How does this effect our parish redevelopment planning?

Does this really help those of us who have been living next to these
ungutted LRA houses for two years, or is there a political agenda we could
get caught inbetween?

Blighted property that presents a threat to the public's health or safety
may be expropriated. This property may not be outright sold to private
parties and may only be sold to public or private parties following the
procedures laid out in La. Const. Art. I, Sec. 4(H). This conclusion is not
altered by the correction of a typographical error in the original opinion.
