Jim,

By coincidence, so was my father, who served in the Navy. Let me suggest to
everyone to make a visit downtown to the D-Day Museum - now formally known
as the National World War II Museum. In the section called the "Pacific
Theater" they thoroughly educate you about the war with Japan. Though not
intentional, you walk away with the impression the presentation makes an
argument that dropping the A bombs actually saved many American and Japanese
lives than it took.

It's a great exhibit. I'd have to say the greatest impression left on me by
any museum/exhibit I've ever visited is our D-Day Museum and the National
Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. I believe both to be a must see -
though the feeling inside after leaving each is as different as night and
day. There's a feeling a pride/joy and gratitude when leaving D-Day, but
with the other no one ever leaves feeling good or with a smile on their face
- but all should definitely visit if having the chance.

Yep John, my Father told me he was waiting on one of those islands waiting
for the invasion orders. He wasn't looking forward to it.
