I gotta say that one thing I'd LOVE to see Ms. Torres work to improve is the
lack of polite customer service from her staff. I have never had a good
experience in her office, as her staff and Ms. Torres herself, are rude,
impatient, snotty, and uncaring. She would enhance her resume soundly if
she demanded her staff show more respect to their clients, who, of course,
pay all of their salaries.

Yikes, a true vent if I ever heard one.

Court clerk seeking new term
Torres has held office since 1988 Saturday, August 18, 2007St.
Bernard
bureau
Lena R. Torres is seeking re-election to the clerk of court's office
in St.
Bernard Parish.

The election is Oct. 20.

Torres was first elected to the post in 1988.

Under her direction, Torres said, the clerk of court's office is one
of the
most efficient in Louisiana and keeps pace with technology to better
serve
citizens.

In her campaign announcement, Torres said the office has no work
backlog and
maintains a "same-day service" policy. As a member of the Louisiana
Clerks
of Court Association, Torres said she has worked for court
modernization and
reforms.

Torres's announcement lists a number of civic organizations of which
she is
or has been a member, including the St. Bernard Society for Crippled
Children, the Professional Women's Club, the Kiwanis Club and the
Los
Islenos Cultural and Heritage Society.

Torres, 86, of Chalmette, is a widow. She has two children.
-----

Not wanting to pick on Lena, but how many of these civic
organizations did
she actively participate in?

Way too many politicians use them just as a way to pad their
resumes.
