LOCAL ATTORNEY CHARGED WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY 

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA -MAYER FINKELSTEIN, age 64, a resident of New
Orleans, Louisiana, was charged in a one-count Bill of Information for
possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors,
announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. 

According to court documents, on May 14, 2007, FBI agents executed federal
search warrants at the defendant's residence and downtown office and seized
computers and computer media which contained images of child pornography. 

If convicted, FINKELSTEIN faces a maximum term of imprisonment of ten (10)
years, a fine of $250,000.00 and up to a life term of supervised release
following any term of imprisonment. 

U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the Bill of Information is merely a
charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a
reasonable doubt. 

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.    The
case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Brian M. Klebba.,
