Woman killed in St. Bernard accident

A St. Bernard woman was killed and a Chalmette man was injured early Sunday
in a head-on collision in St. Bernard Parish, according to State Police
Troop B spokesman Joseph Piglia. 

Cora H. Brown, 39, was pronounced dead on the scene on La. 46 at Meraux
Lane, Piglia said 

The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. when a 2003 Ford F-150 pick-up truck,
driven by Todd J. Jones, 21, was traveling eastbound on La. 46. Jones'
vehicle crossed the double yellow line and entered the westbound lane into
the path of Brown's 2004 Pontiac, Piglia said. 

Piglia said Jones was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He
was transported to University Hospital for treatment of injuries. 

Driver impairment, as well as speed on the part of Jones, is suspected,
Piglia said. However, investigators are awaiting toxicology test results, he
said
